The YETI Club© goes GLOBAL!
Wholeschool's Global Wave© Brings Empathy and Self-Understanding;
Program Connects Classrooms in North and Central America
Wholeschool is excited to announce plans for the first phase of its Global Wave© program, a fully bi-lingual webcast of The YETI Club© that connects children across national borders and cultures, bringing students in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Costa Rica together virtually for two months to build self-understanding, personal responsibility, and now friendships without borders.

Once Wholeschool has achieved its funding goal of $250,000, we will be ready to begin The Global Wave© program.
And it's not soon enough for some 1,100 interested educators in 22 countries other than the U.S.! Please read the exciting article at the right. Clearly, the education world is ready and waiting for this ground-breaking program.
Wholeschool's YETI Club© has shown that children who know more about themselves have more insight into their own actions, feelings, and their freedom of choice for positive decision-making. The YETI Club© has also shown that connecting groups of children across the U.S. together for this guided exploration helps them to see they have more in common than they may have believed, and, importantly, inspires empathy and tolerance in these children for their peers.
How Does It Work?
The Global Wave© pilot program will connect classrooms in the United States and Canada with classrooms in Mexico and Costa Rica. Two Wholeschool Presenters, one relating content in English to the English-speaking students, and one relating content in Spanish to the Spanish-speaking students, will act as a bridge between cultures and languages. Both Presenters are bilingual, and both will interact with students in the two languages.
Initial lesson overviews will be delivered to classrooms in their language of origin. Then, the fun begins! With the Presenters handling logistics and interpretation, students will interact directly with their peers, and their conversations will be translated into the other language on the spot, with responses from other students coming over the same live translation bridge.
Classrooms will individually view lesson content, perform activities, and conduct small group discussions. Then,classroom groups will return for Break-Out Sessions, where they are each paired with a classroom from the other language. Small group teams will select ambassadors to share their discoveries with their new friends from another culture, and vice versa. Differences in cultural experience, cultural value, and even idioms from the other language will open students' eyes to life in another land. As in regular YETI Clubs, teachers will share pictures of student art, creations, and discoveries, which the Presenters will incorporate into the next day's presentations.
New friendships will be formed and can be maintained through mail, email, and the webcasts. The Global Wave© opens up a whole new world for students, and promises to be a life-changing experience.
